Karachi March 10, 2008 - Pakistan State Oil (PSO) organized
a One-day CNG Technical Training Seminar at PSO House, Karachi. Representatives
from Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan (HDIP), Chief Inspector
of Explosives (CIE) Department and other industry experts were invited as
Speakers at the event.
Considering the tremendous growth in the CNG sector which makes Pakistan
the world’s 2nd largest in terms of CNG consumption and to ensure
‘Zero Incident’ at PSO CNG stations, it is imperative to create
awareness among stakeholders in this business.
The seminar was attended by a large number of participants from Karachi
and other parts of Sindh and Balochistan including CNG operators/technicians
and CNG station owners. Representatives from CNG Dealers Association, CNG
Stations Owners Association of Pakistan and All Pakistan CNG Association
were also present on this occasion.
Kalim A. Siddiqui, Executive Director Customer Services, PSO while speaking
on the occasion highlighted the importance of safe operations at CNG stations
to avoid accidents. He also pointed out the safety initiatives like mandatory
installation of Gas Leakage Detection System at all PSO CNG stations and
advised owners and operators to train their staff for safety in the forecourt
area. “We believe that all accidents/ incidents are preventable
and our first aim is excellence in HSE standards in all PSO businesses”
added Kalim Siddiqui.
All major and minor aspects related to the maintenance and safety of a CNG
station were discussed during the seminar. Afterwards a physical demonstration
of safety and maintenance was also carried out for the education of the
CNG operators and the divisional engineers. |
