Wednesday, October 12, 2005 : PSO donates Rs 20 million for earthquake victims
Joins relief efforts on all fronts
KARACHI: Pakistan State Oil (PSO), the largest oil marketing company in the country, has donated Rs. 20 million to the President’s Relief Fund for Earthquake Victims 2005. Earlier, the company had announced that employees of Pakistan State Oil will donate their two-day salary to President’s Disaster Relief Fund for the earthquake victims.
The company is also providing free Jet Fuel to Edhi Air Ambulance for mercy flights from all its eight PSO aviation facilities and the refueling of international flights bringing in humanitarian aid and rescue teams is being done at reduced prices.
In addition, the first convoy of relief goods left Karachi on Tuesday for Abbottabad, while on Wednesday PSO officials, along with a medical team and relief goods, will leave Islamabad for Dirkot, Bagh, Azad Kashmir, one of the worst-affected areas.
PSO has put up rapid response immediately following the earthquake last weekend. All concerned departments have shown exemplary alertness in ensuring maximum fuel supply to calamity zones as well as meeting the fuelling requirements of the armed forces and charitable organizations.
Mr Jalees Siddiqi, Managing Director & CEO, has expressed his deepest sympathies for the victims of the earthquake and prayed for the departed souls. He said PSO will continue to fulfill its responsibility as a partner in the rescue operations under way to bring relief to the victims of the worst natural disaster in the history of the nation.
