PSO participates in Earth Hour 2012

PSO joined the Earth Hour campaign 2012 to play a part in spreading awareness about climate change. On March 31, 2012, unnecessary lights were switched off between 8:30 and 9:30 pm at the PSO Head Office and were dimmed at selected PSO retail outlets in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

Commenting on the company's participation in this initiative, Naeem Yahya Mir, Managing Director PSO, said, "Environmental conservation has been a key focus of Pakistan State Oil to address pressing issues the planet is facing. At PSO we recognize that we must take on the responsibility to reduce the environmental footprint of our products and operations. Today we also urge our employees and our stakeholders to limit their use of energy for one hour to help save this planet. It is a call to stand up, take responsibility and get involved as even the smallest act can help in energy conservation for generations to come."

A day earlier, PSO family also signed a pledge to show their support for Earth Hour. Senior management and employees of PSO pledged to be responsible and play their bit in support of WWF's global initiative. Earth Hour is the world's largest global climate change initiative. It is a global commitment led by (WWF) World Wide Fund for Nature for energy conservation, climate change and global warming.

Being the largest energy company of Pakistan, PSO is aware of its responsibility towards energy conservation. By helping to support Earth Hour, PSO joins WWF and millions of people around the world in sending a clear message about the problem of climate change.
