PSO Launches CENTRAL INFORMATION SYSTEM (CIS)
Karachi March 03, 2008: Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has launched Central Information System (CIS) - a supervisory control and data-acquisition solution that integrates on real-time basis information from all PSO’s New Vision Retail Outlets nation-wide using gprs for connectivity. Offering the Company, a complete insight throughout the virtual enterprise. The CIS will also be used for building new multiple interfaces with applications like tank gauging system. In addition to this, the solution will offer various alerts like multiple swipe of same cards within a day. The CIS would also enable the Company to electronically incorporate the latest price-changes besides allowing a central control of the forecourt equipment from the Head Office.

PSO has partnered with ‘ZAQSoft’, a premier technology-oriented enterprise, to put in place Central Information System along with other high-end initiatives aimed at continuously bringing about a range of better and improved value-added services for its customers.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Kalim A Siddiqui, Executive Director, Customer Services, PSO said that customer focus coupled with exemplary service, continuous innovation, value for money initiatives and the commitment to excel in all its business segments, has been the true driving force for PSO. As the nation’s flagship entity our philosophy is to adapt to the most modern technology prevalent and hence, to strike a strategic partnership with industry leaders for achieving the most challenging of goals in a highly dynamic environment.

In addition to Central Information System, PSO has to it’s credit ‘total retail automation programme’ at approximately 1,400 of its ‘New Vision Retail Outlets’ nation-wide, which integrates all electronic equipment installed at the forecourt including the point-of-sale terminals. All cash and cards-based fuel transactions are selected directly from the dispensing units, with minimum pump-attendant intervention; thus minimizing the incidence of errors or pilferage.

PSO has also pioneered the introduction of ‘Fleet Management System (FMS)’, through which a fleet-customer could monitor all the fleet related resources and expenses using a cell-phone or using the Internet.
