PSO has already introduced higher grade petroleum products ‘Altron Premium’ and ‘Altron X High Performance’
Karachi-December 08, 2016: Apropos the news items circulating in various sections of national media about Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) imposing penalty on PSO on an alleged complaint of deceptive marketing, PSO would like to clarify that the issue under consideration requires retrospective implementation, as PSO has already discontinued its Premier XL brand and is already in the process of introducing new brand for diesel. PSO is considering to challenge the CCP’s order, for which its legal team is currently reviewing the matter.

PSO has already recently launched Altron Premium and Altron X High Performance, upgraded RON fuels conforming to the Government's announcement of improved specifications. These are non additized fuels, so any question of misleading the consumers is incorrect. It is further clarified that PSO earlier used to mix additives in its former brand Premier XL. However, the company discontinued mixing the additives in 2012 and never again marketed it as an additized fuel. The then Managing Director, Mr. Naeem Yahya Mir disclosed the stoppage of mixing the fuels with additives in a press conference held in 2012.

Furthermore, PSO always emphasizes that the diesel imported by PSO from Kuwait Petroleum is better than the current country import specifications outlined by Government. PSO is also in the process of introducing/ importing even a better quality of diesel with lower Sulphur content, and will be marketing it as a new brand. Audience will be accordingly informed.
