The five-member team, which coordinated the internationally acknowledged efforts, was collectively given the ‘Shaukat Raza Mirza Excellence Award 2006’ at a ceremony, held at the PSO House, on April 12, 2007, was attended by a large number of top management and non-management employees. Commendation letters were given to 63 employees.

The award recipients were Arif Nasib, Muhammad Shahid Khan, Mohammad Tariq, Akhtar Zamir and Ahmed Iqbal.

Jalees Ahmed Siddiqi, Managing Director & CEO, Pakistan State Oil, also gave away the Managing Director’s Performance Award 2006 to Riaz Hussain, semi-skilled worker in its Operations department, for unearthing attempts at product pilferage thus averting huge financial losses to the company.

Addressing the employees, Jalees Ahmed Siddiqi said that all concerned departments have shown exemplary alertness in ensuring maximum fuel supply to calamity zones as well as meeting the fuelling requirements of the armed forces and charitable organizations.

During the period, the company, apart from donations to the President’s disaster relief fund, provided refueling facilities to over 2,800 international flights bringing in humanitarian aid and rescue teams, as well as free Jet Fuel to Edhi Air Ambulance for mercy flights, from all its eight aviation facilities.

He said that PSO was up to all current and future challenges and exhorted employees to continue displaying creativity in their areas of operations, challenge the traditional and come up with new ideas. This, he added, is not difficult as PSO employees are enthusiastic, highly motivated and well experienced.
