PSO continues leadership role: Jalees

KARACHI: Jalees Ahmed Siddiqi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Pakistan State Oil, on Tuesday May 2, 2006, declared that PSO was up to all current and future challenges and exhorted employees to continue displaying creativity in their areas of operation.

Addressing a Communication Meeting to highlight the company’s nine-monthly performance, Mr Jalees Ahmed Siddiqi said PSO has maintained its
market leadership with sales revenue touching a record
Rs 236 billion as compared to Rs 182 billion over the same period last year.

As a result, he said, PSO has recorded profit before tax of Rs. 7.1 billion, up 6%, and profit after tax of Rs 4.6 billion, up 7% over, the corresponding period last year.

However, he said, the next financial year will bring in new challenges and, therefore, there was all the more need for diversification in product lines and cost consciousness in operational activities.

Asking employees to contribute both strategically and operationally, he said that they should challenge the traditional and come up with new ideas. This, he added, is not difficult as PSO employees are enthusiastic, highly motivated and well experienced.

Mr Jalees A Siddiqi also asked all employees to heed to changes in the era of globalization and remain strictly customer-focused to maintain and boost PSO’s market leadership.
